The building, which currently houses the Museum of Archeology, is an old Benedictine abbey that represents one of the great testimonies of the Romanesque in the city of Girona.
Only the church and cloister remains from the ancient abbey. These are a mid-S.XII buildings that shape one of the most outstanding sets of Catalan Romanesque. Sant Pere de Galligants has been declared a cultural asset of national interest.
